I am excited about the new Baby Dragons (Proteus Anguinus) on display in the Vivarium near the entrance of Postojna Cave and I highly recommend visiting both, the Vivarium and Postojna Cave by train.
Representatives of the so-called Human Fish are amphibians and live in the underground waters of the Dinaric world. They are well adapted to life in complete darkness. Having stunted eyes they sense its surroundings through smell and vibrations around them.
The information boards outside the cave entrance provide a fantastic presentation, highlighting their significance for scientific and research work.
Cross the main road and proceed through the parking lot over the bridge to reach the area where you will find several cafes, restaurants, and a ticket purchasing location. Just before the stairs, you'll find the entrance to the Vivarium. It's advisable to arrive at the meeting point 15 minutes early. The cave temperature is 10 degrees, so dress warmly. A guide leads the cave tour, which lasts about an hour and a half. You will ride the train for approximately 15 to 20 minutes, then continue on foot along a cemented path that has some slight inclines and declines (1 km). If you prefer not to walk through the cave, you can request to see it only by train. After the train ride, once others continue walking through the cave, you will return outside. Everything is clearly marked, so you won't get lost.
The path from the parking lot to the restaurants is also arranged for people with mobility impairments.
